Athabasca University

Resources

The Athabasca University Library has an extensive collection of databases, a number of which are particularly useful for students of music and music history. The following, in particular, are recommended:

For a listing of the many music-related academic journals accessible through the AU Library go to the e-journals page on the Library website and browse for journal titles containing the keyword "music".

Also browse AU databases by the subject "music".

In addition, the Library provides students with the opportunity to listen online to all the radio programs developed with CKUA Radio for MUSI 285 and MUSI 286. There are three series, titled:

  • The Long Weekend (American popular music from the 1900s to 1940)
  • From Bop to Rock (Anglo-American popular music from 1940 to 1960)
  • The Rocky Road (Anglo-American popular music from 1960 to 1970)

There are 48 individual programs in each of these three series. They may all be found on the AU Library Media Site at http://media.lib.athabascau.ca/category/course-code1/105.
